Embu, Kenya: The University of Embu celebrated the victorious Award of Charter and Installation of the Chancellor at the University grounds. The Charter was formally awarded by H.E. He has vast experience in academia and the University system at large. “I have served as the Associate Dean of the School of Law at the University of Nairobi Parklands Campus for 6 years and as Dean at Kabarak University School of Law while on my sabbatical from the University of Nairobi. I am therefore familiar with the operations of the University as well as the challenges facing public Universities, especially the newly established and upcoming ones.”He said, in his speech during the celebrations. The Chancellor spoke with a lot of enthusiasm saying, “I feel privileged to have been given a chance to lead this young institution through the journey of achieving its full potential.” He continued to say, “My message to us all is that we have a big task ahead of us and we must fasten our belts and get ready for take-off after the charter award and the initial ceremonies. The road may be bumpy and rough but together we will succeed.”

The University of Embu has grown from humble beginnings as an Agricultural College. In 2012, it was established as a Constituent College of the University of Nairobi. It admitted the first batch of government-sponsored students in May 2013. The University has challenged all the odds to register remarkable progress and the enrolment now stands at about 4,197 students. During Prof. Paul Wambua’s maiden visit to the University, he toured the entire institution and expressed great satisfaction with the numerous achievements that the University has recorded so far. “I was happy to note the fact that the University team is fully aware of the vision mission of the University” He said.

With the Award of Charter and Installation of the Chancellor, The University of Embu will gain the confidence to contribute to the globally competitive quality education, training and research for sustainable development. The Institution will remain alive to the needs of the market and deliberately offer a balance between imparting knowledge in diverse disciplines and nurturing relevant practical skills.
